Rectifier controller optimizes flyback converter design

A dedicated rectifier controller for driving MOSFETs so that they perform as ‘ideal diodes’ in synchronous flyback converters ranging from 50 to 150W. The ZXGD3101 enables designers to replace lossy Schottky diodes, with surface mount MOSFETs to achieve higher efficiency, less heat generation, a reduction in power supply size and weight as well as a simplification of overall circuit design. Called a ‘zero point detector driver’ (ZPDD) since it accurately senses the point at which secondary current reaches zero, the ZXGD3101 ensures that a MOSFET performs the same function of the diode it replaces while significantly improving power supply efficiency. more
